Dear fellow citizens,

The management of GEDII decided that the website of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Study Group (GEDII) would have a page dedicated to patients and their families.

This page aims to clarify doubts and provide information about the disease and related aspects. GEDII has sought to be a gathering group for those dedicated to the treatment and research of Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD).

Therefore, its fundamental activity is research and medical training. This is certainly the best contribution that can be made to continually improve care for our fellow citizens with IBD. Much progress has been made, but many questions about IBD remain unanswered.

Its cause or causes are unknown and there is no cure. We can, with existing therapies, improve the negative impact of the disease on life and above all, we can and must continue to search for answers to what we do not know.

The patient's knowledge is the greatest ally of the medical team that treats them.
